Bio
Call her an old soul, new soul, a Generation Z or Post Millennial soul... Kami Kehoe is poised to be one of the most exciting new voices and sounds of her generation.
This now 17 year old female artist has seen and been through way more than her 17 years of life, but this has released a passion, drive and talent beyond her years.
Kami writes, produces, sings, plays drums, keyboards and performs all of her own music. She started her musical journey at age 3, developing an affinity for drums that propelled her through her early teens playing in a band with siblings for several years. After spending most of middle and highschool mastering drums and writing alternative rock inspired originals for her band, she decided to become a solo artist and songwriter. Kami has quickly mastered even her own production along with developing a unique vocal style inspired in equal parts by pop, alternative and R&B. Her ability to lend an original artistic perspective to multiple genres, led Kami to embark on an ambitious personal challenge, to be a artist that can deliver songs, not only in a single lane genre, she does them all. Kami being a Generation Z / Post-Millennial in this generation really relates to bringing new sounds, and new perspectives to the world. She told me that it was her desire to give the world the ultimate playlist of music, she said everyone now listens to a lot of different songs on a single playlist, so she loves all genres and loves writing them just as much. Kami is releasing her first Single "Slow" a song that Kami has picked to release first, out of her repertoire of over 80+ songs that she wrote since the start of Covid, a little less than 1 year ago.
Her debut single “SLOW” (releases May 4th, 2021) marks the completion of her personal songwriting goal and represents the best elements of her already prolific artistic output – a slow burning, R&B and alternative pop inspired track that defies the genre norms most young artists are constricted by. When I asked Kami what this song was about, she rose up with this strength and tears filled her eyes, as she said,
"This song is about growing into a strong woman and learning how to stick up for myself and to truly know my self worth. Especially in relationships, when your boyfriend or girlfriend steps on you or abuses you, whether it be physically or mentally, which I unfortunately have been through both. You have to make a stand for yourself and learn to say no, and walk away, this is the only way I have been able to see my self worth and to start healing from my past and becoming stronger for my future"
Kami Kehoe has a musical identity (and voice) that is very much her own, and she can not be held to a single genre lane, after listening to several of her songs, she really hits many genres, and hits them hard from R&B, to HipHop, to Alternative, to Indie, to Rock, Country and she even showed me a completely Spanish track titled "Lo Sienta", Kami is on another level.
Can't wait to see where this new young aspiring artist goes, it's a journey worth watching!
